Volodymyr Mykolayovych Kovel, the founder of the scam companies Columb Auto Trade and Atlanticexpress, was born in Gomel, Belarus, and lived in Minsk until 2017. In 2017, he moved to Kyiv and started a business together with his partners. However, by the end of 2018, due to significant disagreements over business matters, he left the group of founders. Around the same time, he established a new company and invited his associate, Yevhen Vrublevskyi, to join him. Also in 2018, due to what was described as dishonest business practices, a series of attacks were carried out against Kovel and his office. Tax authorities and other agencies conducted searches, and, in short, serious problems began. Between 2018 and 2022, hundreds of Ukrainian and Belarusian citizens allegedly suffered as a result of Kovel's criminal activities. Dozens of civil and criminal cases were opened against Kovel's company, Columb Auto Trade. Since 2022, he has lived in Warsaw, where he continues to reside with his wife.
